The Allegheny Badgers are joining Atlantic Hockey Federation for the 2023-24 season. The organization is bringing three teams to the league: 18U AA, 2008s AA, and a 2009s AA team. The Badgers play out of Palmer Imaging Arena in Delmont, PA. The 18U team will be coached by Josh Fajt, while the 08s team will be led by Brett Martz and the 09s team by Justin Brown.
The Allegheny Hockey organization has a rich history dating back to 1992. The association was named in honor of “Badger Bob” Johnson, a coach who was a leader throughout USA amateur and major league hockey. Johnson’s core values and philosophies have become the basis for USA amateur hockey across the country, and the Allegheny Hockey organization has stayed true to those values over the years.
The organization is committed to providing programs for as many boys and girls as possible who wish to participate in youth hockey. They offer instructional, recreational, and competitive programs for different skill levels and ages from 4 through 20. The Allegheny Hockey organization has an excellent group of dedicated coaches and volunteers who provide an unmatched level of commitment both on-ice and off-ice to the members of Allegheny Hockey and to the sport of youth ice hockey.
The Allegheny Hockey organization has produced many talented players over the years, and two key alumni are Austen Swankler and Dominic Schimizzi. Swankler is a Bowling Green State University player who was named the 2022-23 first team All-CCHA, nominated for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, and awarded the HCA National Player of the Month in December 2022. He was also a two-time CCHA Forward of the Month and a two-time CCHA Forward of the Week. Schimizzi played for three different NAHL teams before committing to the D1 Robert Morris University.
The Allegheny Badgers are excited to join the Atlantic Hockey Federation for the 2023-24 season and are looking forward to competing at a higher level. Make sure to follow the Badgers on Instagram and Facebook.
