My choice was clear for player of the week. Keep the hard work up, and many more points and awards to come.

Michael had a fantastic weekend. In our opening game on Friday, Michael moved to offense to help out his team as we were short-benched. He unleashed a fury of offensive firepower, scoring four goals and helping his team secure an easy win. On Saturday, Michael played shut-down defense, turning away his opponents’ offensive threats. In a really challenging game against the tournament-winning team, Michael helped contribute to the scoring by firing a blast from the blue line to register his second power-play goal of the tournament.

The Atlantic Hockey Federation is excited for its second Federation Education Series guest this season. This series will feature presentations for our players, families, and coaches on the landscape of hockey and Player Development. This edition of the Education Series features Chris Meriney from College Hockey Inc.
Geared toward players 14U and older and their families, this presentation will feature information on the pathway to college hockey and information about maintaining NCAA eligibility while exploring their hockey options en route to college hockey.
The webinar will take place on November 20th at 6:00 pm ET and take approximately 30 minutes and allow for a Q&A from players and parents.

I submitted a scoresheet change request this morning to reflect Tyler’s assist on our second goal. Down several players for this game, Ty stepped up and was a major factor in our comeback win. Rye was playing a very solid game, and they were up by 2 for most of the game. Tyler sparked our comeback with some strong forecheck plays that led to his first goal, created the turnover for our second goal, had a number of other chances, and made strong plays away from the puck and on the PK. The OT goal he scored was a result of an amazing play by our center to put the puck in space for him. He won the race to the puck on the far wall, got the puck to himself from behind his back, chipped the puck to himself to get by the defender, and shielded the backchecker from making a play while he went in on goal and scored the winner against the grain, going over the goalie’s shoulder from in tight at the top of the crease for the winner. I try hard to be real careful about nominating my son for awards. However, in this case, he put the team on his back a couple of times with strong plays on the forecheck, and I was very proud of him as a player and a dad. Thanks for considering this. I will ask one of our assistant coaches to keep tabs on assists for future games so we do not submit as many change requests. I haven’t worried much about that in games before signing scoresheets because there is a lot going on, and I do not expect the refs to get secondary assists correct most of the time. I try not to get hung up on that but will track on our end and update the sheet before signing.
