The AHF announces the Players of the Week for the week ending December 18th, 2022. The Players of the Week is a weekly feature during the 2022-23 season that honors players in all divisions. Only players that are nominated by their respective teams are considered.
Age Level / Division: 10A Team: Royals Player: Joey Coyle (D) – Games: 2, Goals: 0, Assists: 1 “Joey’s teammates gave him the nickname “ankle-breaker” for his ability to deke and handle the puck around anyone coming at him. This new found confidence in his stickhandling adds a whole new dimension to his solid defensive game. Joey made a move to get free and fed the puck for the game winning goal against the Jersey Shore Wildcats. He continued his dominance in the back end on Sunday and despite leaving the game late in the 2nd period due to injury, his team still voted him “player of the game” for his gutsy performance and shut down defense against the Valley Forge Colonial’s top goal scorers,” said Coach Shawn McMullen. – Age Level / Division: 10AA Team: Igloo Jaguars Player: Adrian Rendfrey (F) – Games: 2, Goals: 1, Assists: 1 “Played both defense and offense threw out the weekend. Stepped up when need on and off the ice,” said Coach Carl Orth. – Age Level / Division: 10B Team: Delaware Ducks Black Player: Caleb Chapman (F) – Games: 1, Goals: 6, Assists: 0 “In a game versus a good team and missing 3 teammates Caleb decided to put the team in his back to the tune of 6 goals in an 8-3 win,” said Coach Brian Hennelly. – Age Level / Division: 12A Team: Capital City Vipers Player: Adam Arnold (D) – Games: 2, Goals: 4, Assists: 0 “Adam scored 2 goals in each game this weekend as well as scoring in the shootout against Tomorrow’s Ice to lead the team to a victory in both game,” said Coach Adam Flod. – Age Level / Division: 12AA Team: Palmyra Black Knights Player: David Buckwalter (F) – Games: 1, Goals: 0, Assists: 0 “David gave 110% effort in our game this week, working hard on the forecheck and making several strong defensive plays on the backcheck. Great job David!” said Coach Mark Krull. – Age Level / Division: 12B Team: Valley Forge Colonials Herhal Player: Frankie Pavgouzas (F) – Games: 2, Goals: 4, Assists: 1 “Frankie had 2 great games this weekend. He generated lots of offense by causing turnovers and getting the puck to the net. This in turn netted him 4 goals this weekend, one of which was the game winner against a team ahead of us in the standings. Frankie also made countless plays on defense, breaking up odd man rushes, clearing the puck from our zone and blocking shots,” said Coach Mike Herhal. – Age Level / Division: 13AA Team: Valley Forge Colonials Player: Russel Pupek (F) – Games: 2, Goals: 3, Assists: 0 “Played hard all weekend. Backchecked hard and won races to the puck. Got to the front of the net and had a hat trick on Saturday,” said Coach John Fields. – Age Level / Division: 14A Team: Maryland Junior Black Bears White Player: Joel Barnard (F) – Games: 2, Goals: 3, Assists: 2 “Joel helped lead the Black Bears to a win over a very strong Philly Blazers team. Joel had 3 goals and an assist and played both sides of the ice,” said Coach Dave Petrick. – Age Level / Division: 14AA Team: Lehigh Valley Phantoms Youth Player: Matt Kohlhepp (G) – Games: 2, Goals Against: 5, Saves: 73 “Matt played consistent hockey once again between the pipes. He pitched a shutout facing 46 shots in a win this past weekend. Great job Matt!” said Coach Jud Ritter. – Age Level / Division: 14B Team: Grundy Senators Player: Kilm Belko (G) – Games: 3, Goals: 11, Assists: 6 “Kilm surpassed 100 points on the season this weekend tallying 11 goals and 6 assist through 3 games,” said Coach Dylan DellaVecchio. – Age Level / Division: 16A Team: Southern Maryland Sabres Gold Player: Michael Amadio (F) – Games: 2, Goals: 4, Assists: 1 “Michael showed up to play in 2 big games against the top seeded Firebirds. The Showcases are a great way for AHF teams to get four competitive games in on a weekend versus teams that they do not play during the regular season. The showcases will also feature guest teams from around the country. Teams interested in attending as a guest team, please complete this form.

For the week ending on December 11th, the Atlantic Hockey Federation rankings and subdivisions are in. The number of playoff subdivisions are based on the number of teams in the division. For the A divisions, Gretzky and Lemieux divisions are considered separate divisions and will have their own playoff subdivisions. You can view all rankings here.
The teams that are in first in each AA division are Ashburn Xtreme 2012 (10U), Ashburn Xtreme 2010 (12U), Igloo Jaguars (13U), Ashburn Xtreme 08 (14U), Delaware Ducks (15U), Team Philadelphia Black (16U) and Philadelphia Blazers (18U).
For the A division, the top teams in each group are the NJ Bandits Grey (10U Gretzky Division), NJ SportsCare Kings Blue (10U Lemieux Division), Southern Maryland Sabres Gold (12U Gretzky), NJ Bandits Red (12U Lemieux), Philadelphia Blazers (14U Gretzky), Frederick Freeze LA (14U Lemieux), Lancaster Firebirds Black (16U Gretzky), Delaware Ducks (16U Lemieux) and Wissahickon Warriors Red (18U).
For the B Division, the three teams with the most ratings are Jersey Shore Wildcats Black (10U), Ashburn Xtreme 2 (12U), and the MYHA 14U B Blue (14U). The Venom Hockey Club 1 are on top of the rankings for this week in the Mites category.
This month, KRACH ratings were broken up into multiple subdivisions. Teams will have the ability to move up and down subdivisions until January. The final subdivision will include the teams in competition for a playoff spot.

“John was amazing versus the #2 ranked York Devils in the 10U A Gretzky division. He made 45 saves during regulation and then 2 huge saves in the shootout to help his team secure the win. Amazing effort!” said Coach Anthony Gifoli.

“Andersen showed up and showed off this weekend logging 3 goals and 3 assists to the score sheet. This included an excellent tip-in goal off a shot from our defenseman. His playmaking abilities have been coming along nicely this season. Great job, Andersen!” said Coach Paul Rohanna.

“Colton played his heart out on Sunday. He was asked to play both defense and at center and did a tremendous job both offensively and defensively. Chipped in a goal and an assist, lots of blocked shots, and a very active stick when on defense,” said Coach Patrick Porkka.

“Luke continues to develop a very strong hockey sense, understanding his role whether with or w/out the puck in either offensive or defensive situations,” said Coach Jay Dougherty.

“Playing against one of the top teams in the league, Liz did very well limiting opponent scoring opportunities. She kept attacking rushers outside of the dots, cleared the front of the net, and made good first passes on breakouts and regroups,” said Coach John Fields.

“After playing in the Allstar games on Saturday, Ian showed great effort to help lead his team in a come from behind shoot out against the Royals. He had 1 goal , 1 assist and the game winner in the 5th round of the shootout. His stingy play on defense and puck moving ability to his teammates helped orchestrate they comeback,” said Coach Chris Schache.
