Ilan Shterenberg, a goalie for Montgomery Youth Hockey Association is currently serving as a Young Ambassador for the Henrik Lundqvist Foundation.

Shterenberg is on the 14U UA Gold team for Montgomery and began a fundraiser to raise money for a fellow friend, Lamar Collado who was born with a severe form of epilepsy. He is looking to raise money for a customized adaptive bike that will help improve mobility.

Shterenberg first learned about Collado through Freedom Concepts which is an adaptive equipment company that his uncle used to work for. He was recommended by the local hospital as a patient in need.

Ilan Shterenberg applied to the Henrik Lundqvist Foundation and will be presenting his project to Lundqvist, his wife and the foundation’s board in November.

Ilan has raised over $4,000 of his $6,500 goal towards the adaptive bike. To donate to Shterenberg’s foundation and learn more about his journey, click here

Multiple Atlantic Hockey Federation teams are supporting breast cancer in different ways throughout the month of October.

The 10U Gold Southern Maryland Sabres honored one of their very own Sabres Hockey Mom who is currently fighting her battle. Her family was there in support of her and they look to bring awareness to breast cancer for the entire month.

The 14U A White Wissahickon Warriors made an effort to show support for every relative related to the players battling cancer by rocking pink laces for AHF’s October showcase. They also wanted to give back to one of their local organizations called “The Breathing Room Foundation” by making a donation on behalf of their team and club. The Breathing Room’s mission is to “Provide a family with whatever it is that will allow them a bit of “breathing room” from their daily struggle against cancer.” The Warriors hope to share a little bit of their Warrior spirit with all families braving the fight against cancer.

The 16U Royals wore jerseys and honored someone they knew who bravely battling breast cancer on their nameplates.

The Pennsauken Pilots Full Ice Mites AAA team has an event this Sunday, October 30th at Pennsauken Skate Zone. The Pilot hockey team which consists of mites ages six to eight will be wearing their “Ana’s Warriors” jerseys in honor of their biggest “little” fan, Anastasia Condon. Ana is the little sister of the Pilots goalie, Bobby, aka “Baba.” She is 4 years old and born with multiple disabilities that cause her to go through many surgeries due to the uncertainties of her diagnosis.

Every year around mid-August, adult ice hockey players including her dad, take the ice in support of Anastasia. His team’s name is “Ana’s Warriors” and they wear a jersey with Peppa Pig, Ana’s favorite show on the front. They play in a three-day tournament called “Checking for Charity” which led to the Pilots wearing jerseys of their own for the “Pink Out for Ana” game.

The Pennsauken Township Police and Fire Department along with the “original” Ana’s Warriors ice hockey team, will be in attendance to support the Pilots and Anastasia Condon.

While Ana has made big strides, unfortunately her long term prognosis remains unclear. Join them in support of Anastasia and the Pilots by wearing pink or Peppa Pig attire this weekend. Please consider donating to Anastasia Condon and her family, by clicking here

This series will feature presentations for our players, families, and coaches on the landscape of hockey along with the Player Advancement Model. The second presentation will feature Craig Barnett, the Executive Director of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA).

Craig Barnett was a part of the 1987 NCAA championship team as a goaltender at Plattsburgh State University in New York. Barnett continued his career playing professionally for the New York Rangers minor league team before becoming a coach. His 15-year coaching career includes coaching at the NCAA I and II levels. After coaching, he worked within athletic administration and has been the Executive Director of the ACHA since 2018.

The American Collegiate Hockey Association, founded in 1991, is the National Governing Body for Non-NCAA Collegiate Hockey throughout the United States. With 461 college and university-affiliated teams representing 48 states and 2 Canadian provinces, the ACHA provides a structure, regulates operations, and promotes the sport of Hockey nationwide.

The AHF is working with the ACHA to invite all players and their families to an exclusive webinar presentation. The presentation will cover collegiate hockey opportunities in the ACHA.
