Well done to all the teams for their outstanding performances in the championships!
In a heartwarming display of community engagement and teamwork, two prominent youth hockey teams from the Atlantic Hockey Federation recently stepped up to contribute to their local communities in impactful ways.
The Grundy Senators 14U Lemieux team, under the guidance of Head Coach Jay Miller, dedicated their time and effort to volunteering at their local Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Langhorne, PA, on February 9th. The players, alongside their coaching staff, rolled up their sleeves and got to work, assisting with various tasks at the ReStore. From organizing inventory to helping customers, the Senators demonstrated their commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
Meanwhile, the Valley Forge Colonials 16U Lemieux team, led by Coach William Kelly, took a different approach to community service. The team organized a fundraiser to support their local food bank, Phoenixville Area Community Services (PACS). Through their collective efforts, they managed to raise an impressive sum of over $1,000, along with 213 pounds of food donations. This past week, the Colonials proudly delivered the proceeds of their fundraiser to PACS, providing much-needed assistance to individuals and families facing food insecurity in their community.
Both initiatives exemplify the values of teamwork, compassion, and giving back that are instilled within these young athletes through their involvement in hockey. Beyond honing their skills on the ice, these players are learning the importance of being active and engaged members of their communities.
Not only do these acts of kindness benefit those directly impacted by their efforts, but they also serve as powerful reminders of the positive impact that sports teams can have beyond the confines of the rink. By coming together to support worthy causes, the Grundy Senators and Valley Forge Colonials are not only strengthening their bonds as teammates but also leaving a lasting impression on their communities.
As they continue their hockey journeys, may these young athletes carry forward the spirit of giving and continue to make a difference wherever their paths may lead.
